A naming ceremony is a lovely alternative to a traditional religious Christening in a church. The joy of a naming ceremony is that the choice is yours. You can pick a quirky venue to suit your style or a theme that your guests will enjoy. An independent celebrant can help to craft the perfect ceremony, assist with vows, readings, music or lovely ceremony extras to make your day special.
You could do something fun that will make your day stand out in the memory of your guests. Have the children plant a tree (under the supervision of a responsible Grandad), have a teddy bears picnic or ask your family and friends to write wishes for baby that your child can open in years to come. Get creative and ask your guests to participate in a fingerprint tree that you can hang in your house to remind your little one how many people love and support them.
You can choose to have a naming ribbon ceremony with your child’s name woven into a custom made ribbon. This makes for a lovely way of binding family, friends and mentors together in their promise to support your baby throughout their lives. Each loop of ribbon then makes for a precious keepsake or it can be the used in a bit of bespoke baby art.
Here at Lemon Drop we recently organised a naming ceremony at a Prohibition Cabaret Bar. After a beautiful ceremony, we added a little bit of a soft vintage jazz soundtrack, a speakeasy bar tender and asked the guests to participate in a task they all enjoyed; creating a commemorative cocktail! And Voila! The Illona-Rose. Already the girl has style.
